Hard Bargain Children's Theater Camp Application

Sponsored by the Alice Ferguson Foundation and the Hard Bargain Players, the summer theatre workshop will introduce newcomers to the world of the theater and challenge young veterans with advanced theatrical concepts and production techniques. The workshop will engage and entertain participants as they work in the areas of stage management, acting, costuming, lighting,  set design and construction, and will culminate  in a final production on July 21.

INSTRUCTORS
Michelle Talkington is no stranger to the Hard Bargain Players or to Children’s Theater.  She is the Managing Artistic Director for the Hard Bargain Players and some of you may remember her from teaching the HBP Kids Workshop in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 or directing Oliver, HONK!  or Annie at the Port Tobacco Players in January 2009, March 2005, and 2003 respectively.  She received her BA in Dramatic Arts from West Virginia Wesleyan College where she studied under the highly respected Children’s Theatre Playwright and Activist John Urquhart.

Shemika Berry, an Air Force veteran, is an actress and W.A.T.C.H. award winning makeup artist/designer.  Mrs. Berry has performed and designed for many stages throughout the DMV. She is a mom of three who currently works as a museum interpreter at the Colonial Farm at Accokeek, in addition to her historical interpretations for area schools. Her stage work ranges from Shakespeare to contemporary and more modern original pieces to include: A Midsummer Night's Dream, A Raisin in the Sun, Fences, Seven Guitars, August: Osage County and, A Change Gon' Come. Her makeup work has included Seussical the Musical, Alice in Wonderland, Into the Woods and her award winning work on Tantallon Community Players' The Wiz.
